Rama - The name annoys T.N. Chief Minister

M.Karunanidhi, the present Chief Minister of Tamilnadu in India, during the Ram Sethu Samudra Bridge debate, made a controversial statement “Some say there was a person over 17 lakh years ago. His name was Rama. Do not touch the bridge (Ramar Sethu) constructed by him. Who is this Rama? From which engineering college did he graduate? Is there any proof for this?

From that time on, I was trying to find out what was the basis for his acrimonious outbursts. I thought it was all because of his atheist background and anti-religion sentiments.

But today going through his personal profile in Wikipedia, my understanding became clear. The resentment for Rama is deeper than his atheist ideology and anti-religion sentiments. How can he approve of a figure, modeled for monogamy, while he married three women, and have 6 children out of them?

IS IT FAIR?

Recently, the court ordered the jail authorities to provide Ramalingam Raju and his brother, 'A' Class accommodation in the prison. We all know well, how an ordinary 'pick pocket' or a 'petty thief' is caught in the act. We all know well that when these people are caught, how they are treated by the public and the police. Even before he is taken to the court or punished by the court of law, he is punished severely, right on the roads, or at the police station.

Though as on date, they are only the accused, do they deserve a special treatment?

I request the readers of this articles to express their opinions by clicking on 'comment' at the bottom of this article. Please join in my campaign for "Fairness for the accused"

A POLITICIAN IN THE MAKING!

When we read about the exploits of Ramalingam Raju, one day after another, it is becoming more and more clear that it was not a matter of negligence, ignorance or an individual becoming foolishly enthusiastic. He had a great ambition. He was keen on building it brick by brick. The timing was right and he was exceedingly successful.

Later, despite achieving success beyond his own imagination, he moved from the threshold of ambitions to get into the clutches of greed. He gave way to impulses driven by temptations. He did sow the seeds. Reaping the fruits now, in the four walls of the prison. He may get suitably punished. Will he be a changed person when he comes out of the prison premises? I doubt!

He will get more hardened. He will try to correct the wrongs he did in his wrongdoings, which landed him in the prison. In the prisons he will realize that what he did in a legal entrepreneurial environment is wrong. The only big business is politics, where he can do the same things again and go unscathed. Therefore he may choose to enter into politics, the safest asylum for people of similar characters.

One need not be surprised if one or more political parties are already negotiating with him, for his safe return to home. And at the end he may completely integrate himself and his hidden wealth with a political party. It is not an assumption or a prediction. It is a simple thought about the character of the Indian Political Leaders and corporate thugs.

NATIONAL SHAME

350 Army veterans demand parity in pension. They all have assembled at Delhi and are giving back their medals to the President. They express their dismay at the parity in their pension scheme for the same levels. They demand equal pension for all men and women retiring on the same rank. This is one aspect.

But one goes into the details, it will be clear that an Army man who puts his life at stake, sacrifices his family life for several years, faces regular transfers etc..etc., is not treated with dignity and respect.

I doubt, whether our President, Ms.Pratibha Patil, who was unknown to most citizens of this country before she became the head of our country, can really understand the sensitivities of the issue, intervene and try to place things in order.

In our country we only pamper politicians and beuracrats. We truly have no respect for the people who protect the sovernighty and integrity of our motherland.

Vande Mataram! Jai Jawan!

EMPLOYMENT EXCHANGES IN INDIA

Employment exchange – No one India could ever think that it contributes well to the employment offers to the citizens. Whether as a matter of belief, or as a matter of truth, employment exchange offices in India are a subject for jokes, pun and criticism.

The vibrant Gujarat is different here too. Employment exchanges in Gujarat topped in the country with maximum number of placements. Gujarat has 41 employment exchanges in total. Employment exchanges in Gujarat take lot of initiatives such as vocational programs and training to provide skilled labor to the industry.

According to the statistics provided by the union ministry of labor and employment, Gujarat employment exchanges have made 99,000…1,91,000… and 2,25,000 placements during 2006, 2007 and 2008 respectively. Are they not very impressive?

If you just think of the communal riots and frame a negative opinion about Gujarat, forget it. Gujarat is vibrant. You have to visit, see the ongoing growth even at times of severe recession and change your opinion. Gujarat is vibrant under the leadership of Shri.Narendra Modi.

RAJUs AND THOSE WHO ATE KAJUs

The Raju brothers are under judicial custody. At the end they may get punished suitably, if their criminality is proved in the courts of law. But how about those, who in fact, must have gone with him in his nefarious activities, and benefited immensely. Those in various government agencies and otherwise, who must have manipulated records to help them in their illegitimate activities. One such example has already come in the open. That is the news item about the IT officials keeping their eyes closed and allowing him to make a simple exit by paying the tax for billions of unaccounted money kept in fixed deposit accounts.

Does our constitution provide enough scope to catch all the culprits and punish them? Does our judicial system has enough tools to supervise the legal system and definitely punish the guilty suitably? Does our police machinery have the system, machinery, tools and most importantly the willingness to catch all the guilty and obtain all the resources to fight the case to finish in the courts of law?

It is difficult to give an answer in the affirmative. Therefore, it is time to rewrite the constitution, it is time to update the judicial system and processes, not just air conditioning the court premises and computerizing the records, and it is time the right people are recruited in police following stringent selection procedures, paying them in line with the responsibility and accountability they must have. All these require a government represented by people holding an impeccable character and a high stature. Can it happen in the next 50 years?

We can only say – it is too difficult to guess!
