M.Karunanidhi, the present Chief Minister of Tamilnadu in India, during the Ram Sethu Samudra Bridge debate, made a controversial statement “Some say there was a person over 17 lakh years ago. His name was Rama. Do not touch the bridge (Ramar Sethu) constructed by him. Who is this Rama? From which engineering college did he graduate? Is there any proof for this?
From that time on, I was trying to find out what was the basis for his acrimonious outbursts. I thought it was all because of his atheist background and anti-religion sentiments.
But today going through his personal profile in Wikipedia, my understanding became clear. The resentment for Rama is deeper than his atheist ideology and anti-religion sentiments. How can he approve of a figure, modeled for monogamy, while he married three women, and have 6 children out of them?
